ARTstor User Experience and Information Architecture

Wireframes

The Admin Privileges wireframes allow admin ARTstor users to add new user registrations to a current instance of digital library.

These are annotated wireframes, describing the page interactions and to explain the functionality and use of each page.

Created in InDesign.

Personas

These personas were created in InDesign for the ARTstor Shared Shelf project to define our user base, and to communicate with and gain support from the Shared Shelf stakeholders.

Shared Shelf is an enterprise-level, web-based "cataloging and image management system that will allow institutions to manage, actively use, and — should an institution so choose — share their institutional and faculty image collections".

More information about Shared Shelf can be found here.

Use Cases

I created several use case scenarios for the Shared Shelf personas. They are presented by task and divided by user purview.

Chevron Global Information Link 3 (GIL3) Standardation Project, Usability Test Plan

Usability Test Plan

This document was created to map out the usability/user experience test plan for the Chevron GIL 3 IT standardization project. The project included a limited pilot (small user base) and a full pilot (a few hundred users).

The objective of the usability testing was to predict how the Chevron population of end-users would perform their work using the functionality of GIL 3 after initial deployment and after one month’s time, comparing pre-training, post-training, and no training data.

Test questions, online testing tool, testing schedule, selecting testing participants, and gathering and supervising team members were included in my key responsibilities.

The GIL 3 project defined Chevron's overall information management strategy, global hardware and software architecture and operating environment. More information on the GIL 3 standardization project can be found here and here.

Online Task Delivery Manager

These mockups were created for the Chevron GIL 3 deployment project and were provided to a developer who created the online task delivery manager for user pilots, to test the new software and hardware systems.

The mockups for the online task delivery manager were created in a low-fidelity tool like PowerPoint, as I did not have access to creative tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator.

Despite the simplicity of the task delivery manager, it ended up being a very effective tool to communicate with many people throughout the course of both pilots.

Yahoo Avatars: UX Review

My teammates and I created undertook a thorough review of the Yahoo! Avatar customization tool available within Yahoo! Messenger chat client.

Review documents are below, including a "generalized transition network" (to understand the complexity of the tool), a comparative evaluation, and a usability test. Our final class presentation is also available with a review of our findings.

A Yahoo! Avatar (Y!A) is an image that can be customized by a user of Yahoo! Messenger (Y!M). An avatar’s appearance can be modified in order to reflect the physical appearance, fashion sense, lifestyle, and current mood of the user.
